Philosophy & Mission

The school started in 1985. It was then a school of four students. It is now a school of sixty-five students from the First through the Eighth grade year who share its farm setting with nearly the same number of animals.
The natural rhythm of the farm imparts meaning to the daily rituals of work and play.

With a philosophical focus by teachers and students on the process of learning versus the products of work, as well as the development of a robust work ethic, each student reaches a personal level of competency in her or his academic and creative pursuits. At the same time, they are held to the high standards of a challenging curriculum for each grade.
